The Department of Education has made ARP funds available to students who incurred expenses as a result of COVID-19 related disruptions to their college experience.
ARP requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants, in awarding financial aid grants to students. However, students do not need to be only Pell recipients or students who are eligible for Pell grants. In addition, ARP provides financial aid grants to students who may be exclusively enrolled in distance education.
Tier 1 — Spring 2022 students enrolled as of Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, who completed a FAFSA and have a 0 EFC received:
Example 1: Student A is taking two classes for a total of 6 credit hours where standard tuition rate was applied. Disbursement is $720. ($120 x 6 credit hours = $720)
Example 2: Student B is taking four classes for a total of 12 credit hours. Two classes are standard tuition and two are 2X tuition. Disbursement is $1,890. ($120 x 6 credit hours = $720, + $195 x 6 credit hours = $1,170).
Tier 2 — Spring 2022 students enrolled as of Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, who completed a FAFSA and have an EFC higher than 0, were Pell-eligible, were not Pell-eligible, or did not complete a FAFSA received:
Example 1: Student A is taking two classes for a total of 6 credit hours where standard tuition rate was applied. Disbursement is $330. ($55 x 6 credit hours = $330)
Example 2: Student B is taking four classes for a total of 12 credit hours. Two classes are standard tuition and two are 2X tuition. Disbursement is $900. ($55 x 6 credit hours = $330, + $95 x 6 credit hours = $570).
The money will be disbursed on Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, via direct deposit or mailed check to the permanent address on file. You can set up direct deposit to receive your refund sooner. In myÂ鶹ӳ», go to Â鶹ӳ» Self-Service — click on "Banking Information" — click "Add an Account."
No. Distribution of ARP funds is made directly to students and not applied by the College toward any outstanding balances that may still be owed by the student. As such, receipt of these funds does not indicate the recipient has satisfied their financial obligations to Â鶹ӳ» for any debts incurred during the Spring 2022 term or any terms prior. Please check your current account balance to determine what you may still owe.
Yes. Â鶹ӳ» is not authorized to apply ARP funds without consent toward any outstanding balances that may still be owed by a student. However, once the funds are received as a refund, students may choose to use the funds to pay off their outstanding account balance.
Any student who was or is enrolled at Â鶹ӳ» as of Monday, January 31, 2022. ARP funds are prioritized for students with exceptional financial need.
Yes. In accordance with the guidance provided by the U.S. Department of Education, international students are eligible for emergency funding through the ARP.
No. Any funds a student receives from the ARP will not need to be repaid.
No. Money from the ARP is not considered financial assistance under federal statute nor Department of Education regulations. As such, these funds will not impact your eligibility for regular financial aid (e.g., grants, scholarships, loans).
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has not yet announced how the funds will be treated for tax purposes. Information will be shared when the final determination is received.
